Scholastic Book Fair
We are excited to announce our annual fall Scholastic book fair is coming soon! Tuesday, November 12th will mark our first student preview day with shopping days on Thursday (Nov. 14th) & Friday (Nov. 15th). So get those E-Wallets ready!
What do book fairs do for our school?
When our school reaches its sales goal, scholastic gives us 50% of profits back in the form of Scholastic Dollars. Those Scholastic Dollars are used to purchase books for the library, classrooms, and students. Ever seen a Scholastic News come home or used online student access for Scholastic News? Mason’s book fairs pay for that subscription as well. Scholastic dollars have also been used to purchase items from the scholastic school catalog, most recently, carts (foldable & white board) for our new outdoor classroom. So you can rest assured that for every dollar you spend, a percentage goes back to your child’s education here at Mason Elementary.
New This Year!

New This Year! --
This year, to get the kids excited about the books they will see, we will be hosting a Virtual Book Club the week of November 4th. Keep an eye out for when your kids favorite Mason teacher/staff member might make an appearance! There’s also a chance that the live events will involve a fun raffle for all the kids who tune in. All of the books featured at Book Club will be available for purchase at the fair, so your child can take that excitement for reading home with them. These virtual events will run from Monday, November 4th - Friday, November 8th starting at 6:00pm each night. Check out the Virtual Book Club button here!
We are also offering reusable bags for pre-order and purchase at the fair. We will still have donated grocery bags as a free option for shoppers, but feel free to purchase a scholastic bag to use for book fairs and library all year round. 100% of profits from every bag purchase goes straight to your Mason PTO as funds to use for students and classrooms. If you pre-order a bag, your student will receive their bag at their in-school shopping day to use right away.
When can we shop the fair?
Your students will have their first opportunity to shop during school on Thursday, Nov. 14th. After school shopping will take place Thursday, Nov. 14th from 3:45pm - 6:00pm & Friday, Nov. 15th from 3:45pm - 5:00. For a detailed fair schedule, please click Here *This schedule is subject to change at any time leading up to or during the fair*
Should I shop the fair online or in person?
While there is an option to shop online, the way you purchase book fair books changes the percentage of money back to the school. Online shopping for our fair is a great way to purchase books your child didn’t see in person, but you will pay shipping and a smaller percent of your purchase comes back to the school. If there is a book your child sees at the fair, we recommend purchasing it in person. If you have family who would like to help pay for your child’s book purchase, they can add money to your child’s e-wallet with no additional fees. For a how to on creating or updating your eWallet, Click the button here!
I love the book fair! How can I help?
We are always looking for volunteers for the book fair. Because the fair runs before and after school throughout the week, there are a variety of time slots and volunteer opportunities. Sign up geniuses go out to parents for after school hours to set up, tear down, and run the cash registers & during school hours helping kids preview, shop, and check out. The more the merrier! So even if you can’t commit to a full shift or if slots fill up, feel free to check out the needed times and days on the button here.
